Android 15 brings new services and improvements to the Android OS, with a focus on productivity, user privacy and security, better support for developers and content creators, communication, and, of course, performance and quality.

This new Android 15 Beta 2 comes a few weeks after the release of the first beta version of Android 15. However, it isn’t available for Galaxy devices yet, and Samsung will open its own One UI 7.0 Beta Program to the public later this year.

PRIVATE SPACE:
One of the significant new features in Android 15 Beta 2 is Private Space. This is similar to Samsung’s Secure Folder, which allows users to hide private apps and files in a secure space. When Private Space is locked, its apps are paused and won’t appear in the drawer. On multitasking menu (Recent Apps), and the sharing menu (Share Sheet).

Theft Detection Lock:
Android 15 Beta 2 can detect a theft motion, and the device will be automatically locked when it does. So, if somebody snatches your phone while you are using it, the device will be auto-locked, restricting their access to your data.

Better multitasking on foldable phones and tablets:
Google has implemented a way to pin the taskbar on the screen for improved multitasking on big-screen devices like foldable phones and tablets. This allows users to switch between apps quickly.

Improved gaming performance via Vulkan:
Google is introducing an optional layer for running OpenGL ES on top of Vulkan. This will improve the compatibility and performance of some games.

Faster app launches and system performance:
Android 15 now supports 16KB page sizes. This allows heavy apps to start faster and respond faster during memory-intensive workloads. For example, the camera app will launch 6.6% faster during the first launch and 4.48% faster in consecutive launches. The device can boot 1.2% faster on average.

Furthermore, a consortium of Japanese telecom companies, including Docomo, NTT Corporation, NEC Corporation and Fujitsu, made the prototype phone for the 6G test. Japan has announced it has successfully conducted a 6G speed test with a prototype phone made by a consortium of leading Japanese telecom companies. The 6G prototype device reached speeds of 100 Gbps on the 100GHz band indoors and 300GHz band outdoors.

These speeds are 20 times faster than the current 5G speeds. Furthermore, the consortium conducted the test at a distance of 328 feet (100 meters).

Is 6G Better Than 5G And When Will It Arrive?
However, it is worth noting that the consortiums ran the 6G test on a single phone in non-commercial networks. This means that the potential speeds will be lower when 6G commercially rolls out to consumers.

This is because 6G uses a higher frequency than 5G, which will offer better speeds but has its drawbacks. The distance of 6G signals and their ability to get through walls is even lower than 5G.

Furthermore, factors like rain and walls can threaten 6G signals in your phone. This is evident from the 100-meter distance at which the tests were conducted.

Currently, 5G offers a peak speed of 10 Gbps; however, the actual speeds in the real world are around 200 Mbps on T-Mobile in the US. Similarly, while 6G could reach 100 Gbps in theory, the real-life speeds are likely to be lower.

While 5G has made it possible to download large movies in minutes, 6G could allow real-time VR interactions, remote surgeries and much more, thanks to the higher speeds. However, the commercial launch of the first 6G phones and cell towers is years away as it will require the development of new infrastructure.

Google Play Protect will scan your phone when you try installing an app that has never been scanned. You will see a new prompt to “Scan app” and “Don’t install app”.

This prompt will also explain why it considers the app harmful. Google is rolling out this feature in India, which will soon be available in other countries.

When Play Protect detects a harmful app, it can send you a warning to prevent its installation or automatically disable it. The Play Protect scan will extract important signals from the app and send them to Google’s backend structure for evaluation.

After the analysis is complete, it will send you the result to inform you whether the app is safe or harmful. The company claims it uses machine algorithms for its protection to learn from each submitted to the Play Store.

It checks thousands of signals and checks app behaviour to protect users. Google Play Protect scans more than 125 billion apps daily to ensure users stay safe.

Apple Magic Accessories To Launch With USB-C Soon


Apple plans to add a USB-C port to its Magic accessories lineup soon. These include the Apple Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad and the Magic Keyboard. The company is transitioning all its products with lightning ports to USB-C after the launch of the Apple iPhone 15 series.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the Apple 2023 product lineup is an iterative upgrade until the company offers better USB-C integration across all products. Gurman claims these interim products will have modest upgrades to keep customers loyal to the Apple ecosystem.

The new Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad and Magic Keyboard will arrive with the USB-C port next month. It will launch along with the iMac next month. The company also plans to launch the standard AirPods with USB-C port next year. Apple has already released the AirPods Pro 2nd Gen with a USB-C port.

Adding the USB-C to the Magic lineup could be an interesting change, as the current models have been criticized for having a lightning port at the bottom. However, there is no information on whether Apple will change the position of the port or not.

Gurman further predicts the AirPods Max will also transition to the USB-C port but does not provide the exact timeline. He also claims accessories like the MagSafe Battery Pack and MagSafe Duo will return with the USB-C port.

The company is also working on the 10th anniversary Apple Watch, dubbed the “Series X”, with new features and design. It will be the most significant overhaul to the Apple Watch series, with a thinner case and a new way to attach bands. Furthermore, it will also have a blood pressure monitor and AI health coaching service.

Next year, Apple is also planning new iPads with OLED displays, an M3 processor for the MacBook lineup, bigger iPhones, and an Apple GPT AI model. Apple is expected to generate 123.5 billion dollars of revenue during the holiday season.

Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 To Launch Soon? Qualcomm Announces New Event

Qualcomm has announced a new event to unveil a new flagship Snapdragon chipset. The company will likely launch the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 processors, offering upgrades over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 7+ Gen, respectively. Furthermore, the Realme GT Neo 6 and Realme GT Neo 6 SE will likely be the first smartphones to use the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. Moreover, the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Turbo could use this chipset, in addition to the Vivo Pad 3 and iQOO Neo 9, in China.
