How to Make Your Mobile Phone Battery Last Longer

If your current smartphone won’t charge in a day, here are some steps you can take to make it last longer.

Back-to-school sales and the fall may make upgrading to a new phone very tempting. But what if you need to wait a little longer, even if the battery in your old phone drained before lunch and you’re only trying to maintain it temporarily?

Thankfully, there are steps you can take to help save power, especially if you’re not ready to make a purchase because you’re waiting for this year’s new hardware offerings, terminating your carrier contract, or sorting out your finances. Here’s a guide.

Stretch It
Lithium-ion batteries degrade over time and charging cycles, and it’s not uncommon for a well-used device to experience shorter spans between charges after two or three years of regular use. Even with an older battery, reducing activities that need a lot of energy can provide more time between charges.

The usual suggestions — like turning down the screen’s brightness, avoiding processor-intensive games, keeping the phone cool or temporarily putting the device into Airplane Mode to cut down on network activity — can add minutes. Power-saving advice varies based on your hardware and its system software, so check with your manufacturer or wireless carrier for specific instructions for Android devices (including Google’s Pixel phones and Samsung’s Galaxy models) as well as for Apple’s phones and tablets.Apple and Google both include a feature that reduces power consumption with one tap: the iOS Low Power Mode or Android’s Battery Saver. (The name varies on Android devices; for example, some Samsung Galaxy phones may call it “Power saving mode.”)When the feature is enabled, the battery icon turns yellow as the mode reduces screen brightness, pauses some network activity (like online photo backup) and limits app actions like mail-fetching, automatic downloads and other battery burners. Processor speed may also be reduced, and as a result, the phone may run slower.

To find the power-reduction feature in iOS, open the phone’s main Settings icon, select Battery and tap the button to enable the mode. The iPhone’s Low Power Mode may kick in automatically when the battery gets low, but turning it on manually — even after you’ve just charged up — can help squeeze out more use.

In the Battery menu on many Android phones, you can choose between Standard Battery Saver and Extreme Battery Saver (for even more power-rationing) and put the mode on a schedule.

Watch It
On most phones, the Battery Settings include other features that help you see the overall health of your battery, which may influence your decision on whether to upgrade your device.
The iOS Battery Settings screen includes graphs that show battery power and activity, as well as a list of apps that consume the most power. The Battery Health and Charging screen shows the maximum capacity of the battery; less than 100% means less time to charge. Optimize Battery Charging is usually turned on by default and is designed to extend battery life by reducing the time it takes to fully charge the battery, ultimately increasing the 300 to 500 charge cycles expected for most batteries.
Android’s battery settings include a usage screen to show which apps are consuming the most power, as well as a diagnostic tool to help troubleshoot battery issues. When enabled, Adaptive Battery Settings analyzes phone usage and adjusts how much power apps can access.

Replace It
If you choose to continue using your current phone, you have the option of replacing the battery. Check with your manufacturer for information on authorized repairs, especially if you have an extended warranty or phone insurance.Apple’s website has information on iPhone battery service, as does Google’s website for Pixel phones and Samsung’s website for Galaxy devices.

>>>>>>>>>Honor 100 Pro – Battery HB506591EHW 5000mAh

The first thing that’s worth noting is that the Honor 200 Smart is equipped with a low-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, paired with 4GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. These specs are standard for cheap Android phones, so there are no surprises here.

New Blood Pressure Watch Coming Soon: Huawei Watch D2

Huawei is reportedly on the verge of launching its second blood pressure watch, and it’s likely to be the most advanced and useful of its kind to date.
According to Huawei Central, the Huawei Watch D2 will be released this September, with the most likely release date being September 24th.
This comes after one of Huawei’s wearable devices passed medical certification in China in early August.
At the moment, there are no specific details on what features the Huawei Watch D2 will offer over the original (the Huawei Watch D, which launched in 2022).

>>>>>>>>>>>Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro 46mm – Battery HB572728EFW 530mAh

That’s not to say there aren’t clear avenues for improvement.

>>>>>>>>>>>Huawei C7500 C7900 – Battery HB5A1H 1050mAh

Some reviews noted the Watch D’s blood pressure accuracy is good rather than great, and it is a fairly bulky watch. It’s 13.6mm thick and has a fairly large front-on footprint despite having a mid-size 1.64-inch screen. Huawei has a good excuse, though. Watches like the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 use fairly standard fitness watch hardware to reap the stats required to estimate changes in blood pressure, from a baseline measured using a blood pressure cuff.

Huawei’s Watch D has a miniature version of a blood pressure cuff, with an inflating strap, using multiple air sacs. It provides standalone readings. The impressive part here is a feat of miniaturization, not the technique used to gather stats, which is effectively the industry standard approach. >>>>>>>>>Huawei Watch GT 3 42mm – Battery HB522025EFW 292mAh

Of course, ths Huawei Watch D2 is of limited usefulness to the average U.S. buyer as the watch will not go on sale in the States. There is usually a gap of several months between the Chinese version and the release or announcement of the version elsewhere. Western buyers are likely to wait at least as long for versions made for audiences outside of China. For now, however, the Huawei Watch D is fairly common in the UK and EU, which bodes well for those interested in the Huawei Watch D2.

Is Overcharging Your Laptop Harmful?

Myth vs. Fact: Overcharging Your Laptop Battery

Myth: Overcharging your laptop will damage the battery.

Fact: Most modern laptops are designed with smart charging technology that prevents overcharging. Once the battery reaches 100%, the charging process stops automatically and bypasses the battery, running directly off the power supply.

>>>>>>>>>>>Replacement AP22ABN 11.67V 5570mAh Battery for Acer AP22ABN

>>>>>>>>>>>Replacement AP19B5K 11.55V 3550mAh Battery for Acer Aspire 7 A715-42 A315-56-57 CB315-3H

How Modern Laptops Handle Charging

Modern laptops are equipped with lithium-ion or lithium-polymer batteries. These batteries are combined with intelligent charging circuitry to ensure that they are not overcharged. Here’s how it works:

Battery Management System (BMS): The system monitors the battery status and regulates the charging process.
Trickle charge: When the battery is fully charged, the system stops charging and switches to trickle charge, which only kicks in when the battery level drops slightly.
Best Practices for Laptop Battery Health
While modern laptops are well-equipped to handle charging efficiently, following a few best practices can help extend the life of your battery and ensure optimal performance.

Avoid temperature extremes:
Extreme heat or cold can affect battery health. Keep your laptop in a cool, dry place and avoid leaving it in a hot car or in direct sunlight.

Use the right charger:
Always use the charger that came with your laptop or a compatible replacement from the manufacturer. Using a third-party charger may damage the battery or even the laptop itself.

Unplug after a full charge:
While there’s no need to worry about overcharging, it’s still a good habit to unplug your laptop when it’s fully charged. This helps keep the battery calibrated.

Keep your laptop updated:
Manufacturers often release firmware updates that include improvements to battery management. Make sure your laptop’s firmware is up to date.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Replacement 628467-3S1P-3 11.55V 6060mAh Battery for Chuwi CoreBook XPro

Perform regular battery calibration:
Calibrating the battery ensures that the battery sensor accurately reports charge levels. To calibrate, occasionally allow the battery to fully drain before charging to 100%.

Avoid deep discharges:
Try not to let the battery drop to 0% too often. It is best to recharge the battery when it reaches about 20-30%.
