Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro As A Tribute To This Phone

Posted on November 1, 2023 by bella

Samsung has launched a special retro edition of its foldable Galaxy Z Flip 5. The new special edition of the flip phone pays homage to the SGH-E700, the first Samsung phone to feature a built-in antenna. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro will be in a fresh indigo colour and frame with a matte finish.

A Tribute To the SGH-E700

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro draws inspiration from the SGH-E700, released 20 years ago in 2003. It was the first phone from Samsung to offer a built-in antenna and an OLED cover screen, which made it highly popular.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro pays homage to the legacy of the SGH-E700 with its indigo blue and silver colour design. The cover screen of the flip phone also has the same pixelated clock from the 2000s. Moreover, there is a new exclusive animation on the cover screen that showcases the pixel cityscape.

Furthermore, the phone box contains a Flipsuit case, three Flipsuit cards, Samsung logos from different eras and a collector’s card engraved with a serial number.

The phone will be available in limited quantities in select regions such as Australia, France, Germany, South Korea, Spain and the UK on the Samsung Website.

It will go on sale in Australia, Germany, South Korea and the UK on November 1 and from November 2 in France. The exact price of the retro edition has not been announced yet.
