Essential accessory now used much less for making calls and more for working, texting or for leisure. We are talking about the mobile phone, now defined as a smartphone due to its ability to adapt to different uses. The State of Mobile 2022 report shows that users now spend an average of 4.8 hours a day in front of mobile phone screens. In practice, almost a third of their day by removing the classic 8 hours of sleep.

Those belonging to the so-called Generation Z would be the main users of social content. Millennials would prefer shopping, finance and restaurant apps. Older users would limit their use to apps dedicated to monitoring health, news and weather. For this reason, given the prolonged use, recharging it at least once a day is a common practice.

In light of the energy price increases in recent months, how much does recharging the cell phone battery affect your bill? A mobile phone charger consumes 3 to 7 Wh per charge. This depends on the model and type of battery. A latest generation battery with fast charging will consume less than an older one, which will take longer.

Comparing these consumptions to the cost of a current KWh, we can say that to recharge the cell phone battery we spend a fairly paltry amount every year estimated from 2 to 4.50 euros. So basically anything they can afford to recharge a mobile phone without weighing heavily on their energy bills.
