iOS 17.1 Update Coming Soon, Will Fix This Issue On iPhone 12

Apple has been constantly releasing new software updates ever since the arrival of the iOS 17. The company recently fixed the overheating issue on the Apple iPhone 15 Pro models with the iOS 17.0.3 update. It now plans to release the iOS 17.1 update to fix the radiation issue on the ageing Apple iPhone 12. The high SAR values on the older iPhone had sparked controversy in France, and this new update could finally fix it.

iOS 17.1 Update Will Fix Radiation Issue on iPhone 12

According to Agence Nationale Des Fréquence (ANFR), the iOS 17.1 update will arrive on October 24 for the iPhone 12. It will likely come on other iPhones on the same day globally, as most iOS updates usually do. The French government had raised concerns regarding the phone’s emission levels and even banned the device’s sales in the country.

According to Apple, all iPhones have an off-body detection mechanism to detect when the phone is on a static surface. This is used to optimize performance in off-body scenarios. Furthermore, it says the French regulators did not account for this protocol, which led to the high SAR values.

The new iOS 17.1 update will reduce the radiation level when the phone is on a static surface. The latest update reduces the phone’s power when kept on a table. Apple says this could result in slightly lower cellular performance in low-signal areas. However, the company claims that most consumers will unlikely notice the change.

The new update will also have several improvements like a new favourite feature in Apple Music, support for AirDrop via the internet, and the option to check bank and card balances in the Wallet app.

Furthermore, the update will add a flashlight indicator to Dynamic Island, better photo shuffle on the lock screen, and support for the Nintendo N6 controller. It will also allow you to turn off certain Action Button functionalities like Camera, Flashlight, Voice Memo and Magnifier when the iPhone is kept in your pocket.

iOS 17.0.3 Fixes Overheating on iPhone 15 Pro Models

The new iOS 17.0.3 update fixes the overheating issue reported by iPhone 15 users. It claims to fix an “issue that may cause iPhone to run warmer than expected”.In addition, the new update also patches security vulnerabilities in the kernel (CVE-2023-42824) and WebRTC (CVE-2023-5217)

Apple had previously confirmed it was working on an update to fix the overheating issue on the iPhone 15 Pro Models.

The company said third-party apps like Instagram, Asphalt 9 and Uber were also causing the phone to heat up. It was working with developers to issue a fix.

Even Apple iPad Pro and Apple iPhone 14 Pro users also faced overheating when running the Instagram app. Uber and Instagram have now been updated, but Asphalt 9 has yet to receive an update.

Similarly, users reported the iPhone 15 Pro models were getting hot during the initial setup process and when charging the device. This especially affected the Pro variants, which reduced their screen brightness significantly outdoors due to the overheating.

iPhone 15 Pro Leak: Unlocking Limitless Potential!

iPhone 15 Pro Leak: The official unveiling of Apple’s iPhone 15 series is anticipated to take place on September 13th. This upcoming smartphone lineup, rumoured to consist of three variants — Apple iPhone 15, Apple iPhone 15 Pro, and Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max — has been a subject of speculation for some time. Recent reports from multiple sources suggest that the iPhone 15 Pro models will offer increased storage compared to their predecessors. Possible reasons include the flagship model’s improved storage options and higher capacity. These could justify the rumoured price adjustments across the lineup this year.

Storage Details
According to information shared by Korean blogger yeux1122, who cites sources within the vendor community, there are indications that the forthcoming iPhone 15 Pro models will feature an impressive storage capacity of up to 2TB. This support comes from a Weibo user called Red Lotus Technology. They provide additional backing to the rumour by stating that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will start with a base storage of 256GB. Furthermore, they indicate the possibility of expanding the storage up to an impressive 2TB.

If this indeed becomes a reality, the 2TB storage option would stand out significantly. It would mark the highest storage capacity ever provided on an iPhone model. This achievement would surpass the storage limits of earlier iterations. By comparison, the storage configurations for the Apple iPhone 14 Pro and Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max currently initiate at 128GB and cap at 1TB. Additionally, the Apple iPhone 14 and Apple iPhone 14 Plus presently provide storage options of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB.

iPhone 15 Pro: Expected Price
The upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models will sport higher price tags than their predecessors. The increase in cost is due to including expanded storage choices. This justifies the upward price adjustments for these flagship offerings. The iPhone 15 Pro is expected to have a higher price, potentially up to $100 more than the iPhone 14 Pro. Additionally, rumours suggest the iPhone 15 Pro Max might see a price increase ranging from $100 to $200 compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

In contrast, the pricing structure will remain relatively consistent for the standard iPhone 15 and Apple iPhone 15 Plus models. Rumours suggest that Apple will unveil the iPhone 15 series on Wednesday, September 13. The pre-orders for the new lineup will begin on September 15.
