Different types of battery

Posted on November 8, 2022 by bella

In order to have a high-performance battery that is not harmful to the environment and human beings, several types of batteries have been created.

Lead batteries
These are batteries made up of a set of accumulators, they are the cheapest on the battery market today. They discharge quickly and are harmful to the environment due to the presence of lead.

Nickel-cadmium batteries
The essential components of this type of battery are nickel and cadmium electrodes. Coming from an old technology, they have a reduced lifespan and are now banned in the European Union due to the presence of cadmium.

Lithium ion batteries
There are two forms of lithium ion battery: lithium cobalt (LCO) and lithium manganese (LMO). They have a large storage capacity and low weight. They do not support overheating because they risk exploding. Their high performance makes them the batteries used for many devices.

Lithium polymer batteries
They are actually a form of lithium ion batteries, but are less dangerous because they contain gel. They also stand out for being much more expensive.

Nickel-metal hydride batteries
They now replace nickel-cadmium batteries and are safer since they are made without toxic metals. They are lighter and produce more energy than nickel-cadmium.
