Google will soon announce the Google Pixel 8a, a more affordable version of the Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 8 Pro. Furthermore, the phone will likely arrive at Google I/O 2024, scheduled for May. However, the company has accidentally confirmed the existence of the Pixel 8a on its support page and a new feature that will be exclusive to the phone. Google Pixel 8a To Get New Battery Stats Feature
A response by a Google employee on the Issue Tracker page has confirmed the presence of the Google Pixel 8a. A user asked a question regarding the missing battery info list, and he received a reply stating that the feature is only available for Pixel 8a and beyond.
The employee stated, “We only enable this page on Pixel 8a and beyond, so this is WAI(Working as Intended)”. This means that the feature is not intended for current Pixel phones and will debut with the Pixel 8.
It also confirms that the company is working on the Pixel 8a and will launch it soon. It is the first time Google has officially mentioned the Pixel 8a ahead of its launch.
Moreover, the battery information feature on the Pixel 8a will show the device’s charge cycle and manufacturing date. According to previous reports, it will also include details related to battery health status apart from more features.
Furthermore, leaks reveal the phone will be available in 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB, priced at EUR 570 (Rs.51,588) and EUR 630 (Rs.57,019), respectively. It will go on sale in Bay, Mint, Obsidian and Porcelain colours.
Pixel 8a Expected Specifications
The Google Pixel 8A will feature a 6.1-inch Full-HD+ OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It will use an underclocked Tensor G3 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM.
It will ship with Android 14 out of the box, and it remains to be seen whether Google will offer the same seven years of OS updates on the Pixel 8A. Moreover, the phone’s Geekbench listing reveals it will have a single-core score of 1218 and a multi-core score of 3175.
The Pixel 8a will pack a 5,000mAh battery with support for 27W wired charging. It will also have stereo speakers and a dual camera setup on the back.
